BASES’ Position Stand on Artificial Intelligence and Assessment

Summary: The purpose of this Position Stand is to support colleagues who are involved in the assessment of students. It is not intended to be prescriptive, nor does it seek to impose a set of criteria. Rather, it seeks to state the current thinking of the Association in this fast-changing area and provide a resource that readers will find helpful. Over time, the Association intends providing more support and resources to help its members take the opportunities presented by AI whilst reducing the risks.

The BASES Position Stand on the Ongoing Pandemic

Summary: Whilst the Pandemic is not over, its impact on Sport and Exercise Science will be long lasting and profound. This Position Stand includes an historical record of how BASES responded to the Pandemic, and provides advice and resources to members on how to continue to practice safety during the ongoing Pandemic and in its aftermath. The Position Stand informs members how they can volunteer to support others and how they can access support themselves. Finally, the Position Stand speculates on the ongoing and long-term impact of the Pandemic and the implications of these for members and the Association.

Summary: The aim of this position statement is to provide Athlete Support Personnel (ASP) with a guide to appropriately assess the need for supplementation, assess the risk of supplementation, understand the consequences of taking supplements from an anti-doping perspective and provide practical guidelines and tools for the safe usage in order to support athletes and ASP.
